So was this WC over, and the time is here for all the thoughts
that come's to mind when everybody has gone home...
To the Finnish organisers: Thank you for a well done
championship! And a special thanks to the webmaster and the
people that worked so hard to keep up the results at the web.
You all did an excellent job. And also a thank to all the
helpers who where there. Well done job.
It was a lot of fun for a "newcomer" like me to watch how the
"big guys" did a F3B competition like this. A lot to learn for
shore! Hopefully some of it is convertable from mind to radio...
We will see.
The result for the Norwegian team was a little bit below
expected in this WC. But we managed to keep the spirit up, and
that's a big point I think. Hopefully we, as a team, also
learned a bit that can be improved for next championship.
I had a super week in Finland in this WC, and hope to enjoy your
company in the next. As Team Manager, helper or hopefully a
pilot...
Congratulations to the winners, both in the individual contest
and in the team contest.
6. august
Good morning from Suomi! Today is the last day of WC 2005. We
have two tasks left, distance and speed. Widar, as reported
yesterday, has finished his WC, his not gonna fly today. The
winches are set up and ready, Erik is up at group 9 and Espen
group 12. So we enjoy a cup of cafe and relax a little before
start. The weather today is quite good, sunny and warm already.
It is very close in the top, everything is open!
More to come during the day!
Maybe there will not be so many pictures today, but be shore,
there will be a follow up when we get home.
Puuhhh... 13.00 local time and WC
is over. Price giving is announced at 15.00. Epsen did very well
in duration with a 1000 point in round 7, Erik also improved
both distance and speed. I don't know when the results are
official, but keep looking at
http://www.f3b.fi for the results.

5. august
OK, those guys reporting the weather in Finland knows what they
are doing, at least yesterday. The weather today is heavy
rain... And the start today is moved to 13.00. At least we would
try to start then.
But it is only distance task round 6 left so it should be OK. We
also have a spare day Saturday to fly this task.
And that was a little wrong... The weather are now much better
(13.00 local time), and it is decided that we should fly 7
tasks, not 6. Distance round 6 is about to start, an will be
followed by duration round 7. I think there will be distance and
speed round 7 tomorrow.
Some pictures
from yesterday:

Distance task

Relaunch...
A few word about this WC is also
in place I think. Things are running quite smooth. It has been
very few reflights, both in distance and speed. The crew is
doing a great job. And the result service on the internet is
superb I think. Well done so far!
Local time 18.00 and round 6 is
completed, same with duration round 7. Duration was very good
for Espen and Erik, Espen also flew his Aris this round. A lot
of good work in small thermals made him a 9.39 and 95 in this
round.
Widar almost lost his Brio in this duration... A link to the
right aileron loosened in the zoom. But he got the plane down in
one peas. And decided this would be the end of WC for him. He
"converted" him self to helper for the last two tasks...
Contest continues tomorrow morning with distance and speed.

4. august
Good morning! We have just started round 5, duration. Espen is
on 8th place after 4 rounds, very good! Widar is climbing a bit
on the total, Erik missed badly a distance yesterday and
suffered a lot...
Today we have two good durations and one not quite so good.
Yesterday we had invited our Danish friends for a barbeque at
our "camp", and had a nice evening there with a good meal, some
swimming, r/c helicopter and a lot of good stories...
Next task today is distance.

Erik launching for Espen at duration round 5

Espen hitting the spot (or maybe not quite?) in round 5. And
short brake when Golden Air leaving the airport.
Distance is now done for our team,
and bad news... All 3 got pretty beaten! But it looks like it's
going to be at least 6 rounds so Espen counts on one discard
round. Speed is up now.
I understand there has been some questions about what type of
models are in use. All competitors has answered some questions
about this, and I think there will be a overview of this on the
official site.
But lots of Estrellas, Crossfires, some RaceM's, Supersonic's
and Caracho's are observed.
Afternoon and round 5 almost
completed. The weather today has been great, but the conditions
have changed almost from sec. to sec... Some have had great
conditions in speed (best 14.90 so far) and others rely lousy
(like team Norway, not our day today...). Next up is of course
round 6, and we will start today with duration.
Late evening today we have
finished duration and speed round 6. The weather reports for
tomorrow is not so good, so the organizers pushed on to fly as
much as possible today. Espen got an OK duration, Widar and Erik
missed a bit again. Widar also changed his model from his Brio
to the RaceMX (RaceM with Brio X-tail) and got a monster start
in duration...

3. august

Widar is ready for duration round 4
OK, this morning round 3 was
completed, Espen is 11, Widar and Erik a further back at the
list.
We have just started round 4 with the duration task. Espen and
Widar has flown OK, Erik is next up. The next task is distance.
Light rain today and not so warm, but the line over the hangar
produces a nice slope... And everybody is "hanging" there.

Widar in for landing in the duration task round 4
End of the third day of WC. We
have completed 4 rounds. Today was some ups and some downs for
our team. Good duration for all 3 guys, Espen did very well in
distance also, but missed the speed a bit.
Søren Helsted, our Danish friend managed a 29-round in distance
and of course got his 1000 points.
We haven't got the final results for round 4 yet, but it should
be on the official web-site in a few minutes.
We should have a "garden party" with our Danish friends this
evening, so no I leave the field!

2. august

Espen flying speed, with Erik as helper.
This day started at 4.00 in the morning with a huge
thunderstorm... But at 8.30 it was over for the moment. Flying
continued with the last groups in distance round 2, and duration
round 2. The Norwegian guys did better today, and got a good
start. Speed round 2 was not so good... The conditions where
poor. But it was the same for all.

Heavy rain... And Widar relaxing.
After completion of round 2 we just have started speed round 3.
And been interrupted by heavy rain again.
Espen did very well yesterday and was 4th. The Norwegian team
was 11th after day 1. After 2 complete rounds Espen is 8, Erik
47 and Widar 48.
The team has dropped 1 place to 12.
We are having a great time here in Finland. At least lot to
learn for the Team Manager! More to come...

1. august

Norwegian team ready to go!
First day of competition. Opening ceremony was some music and of
course some official speakers, and was OK.
We started with duration, which was a little bit under the
"normal" for the Norwegian's except for Espen which did OK. Also
today conditions varied a lot. Speed was next, Vidar and Erik
Morgan are not to happy, Espen did an OK speed. One person was a
bit ahead of all others, Pasi did a 14.87 speed.

Startline of duration

Holland team taking of...
We now have a pause, a plane is going to come in and take of
again. Next for today is the distance task.
For results,
http://www.f3b.fi have regular updates, almost last minute
updates on the results.
More later to day...
And now the day has almost ended. Round one is completed, Espen
did very well in distance and got a 1000-round. Widar and Erik
got a bit beaten, but Widar took revenge in first distance in
round 2 which was started late evening.

31th July
Team Manager meeting last night without any big surprises.
Today it was training from the morning, and round zero from
13.20. The distance task was flown. And it was OK with some
practise for the Norwegian team, some minor "snags" was
discovered and fixed.
The conditions today was huge thermals and huge sink-areas...
Fast up and fast down for some. We had some rain in the morning,
but the sun came around mid-day. Tomorrow is official opening and
start of competition.
Models being prepared for processing

Show with U-control combats, and Erik launching for Widar to the
left.

30th July
Finally on the arena! We got to the cottage first, to check in.
And what a pleasent surprise! Erik has done a superb job getting
this place, and we look forward to stay here.

The tents are set up, and Espen has "planted" the Norwegian
flag.
There are activity all over the place, models are being processed,
testflights are done, and all seems happy. The weather is nice
with huge thermals, even now at 18.15 local time. We are
preparing models and get ready for Team Manager meeting at
20.15.

29th July
The Norwegian team are under way! Team manager will meet up with
them at Helsinki Airport Saturday at noon.
Report says some "late minute practise" at Thursday with good
results.
See you all there!
