Last update from WC, friday:
Congratulations to Martin Herrig, who took it all home! A fantastic week. A lot to learn. And the last day was another "tough day" for the norwegian team. The German team took initiative for a party for the helpers and pilots this evening. This has been a great event, no mistakes from the organizers. A great tribute to Roman Vojtchec and his team for a fantastic week. With regards from two tired, but happy norwegian pilots. Thanks to Jostein Myre and Egil Roland for borrowing out their winches to us during WC. And thanks to Mr. Roland for updating these web pages.
Thursday, "word of the day":
6 rounds completed. We will fly round 7 tomorrow, which also would be the last one.
Various conditions today. A lot of speeds in the 14th and 15th. Best was 13.38. Best distance: 35 legs. Impressiv launches from the others. Seams that all have great tuned planes. And of course skills. From our point of view: "Don't get that new model. Get to know the ones you have. And practise a lot! and a litle more".
The norwegian team has had another day without the "ups" we would like to have. We just dont get the altitude to reach the waves that is in the area. Even the duration has been a strugle. (Most of the flewn early morning or late evening). But we are enjoying the event, and the spirit is rather good in the team. 4 days with 4-6 m/s crosswind, sunnshine, with some stroke of good thermals.
We have had a great week here at the WC, whit good mood and a lot of pleasent people. The main thing for us has been that the team has worked out so nicely. And we have had great help from a number of nations. Thank you to you all!
Phone update from the team wednesday evening:
First, this is a verry vel organised event. Everything is on track and running smoothly. Even if the weather has not been all great, steps are made to cope with this conditions also.
We have flown 4 complete rounds, and duration of round 5. And we get beaten in our launches. Every time. We strugle a lot to "get up there". And we think that is the main reason that we get so beaten in speed and distance.
But we keep the spirit up. And as said before, this is an excellent WC.
We look forward for the next tasks tomorrow.
Update Monday:
Competition started a bit late, due to the bad weather. A lot of equipment was broken, both for competitors and organizers. The norwegian team did not suffer from the weather, luckily.
Day one is just finished, and we are not happy with all our results. But we focus on the good one. Maybe a litle tighter tomorrow. We are having a great time. And the arrangement is going quite well. A huge thanks to the teams helping us with the parachutes when we launches. Nice sportmanship. Thank you!
Short first update from the norwegian team:
Friday: Arrived 05:40 after 30 hours drive from Norway. The route: Oslo, Ystad, Poland, Germany, Czech. We used the day to establish "Basecamp California", and to become familiar with the area. Great facilities. Top standard and verry pleasent organizers.
Saturday: Brno Cup. We did not attend, but watched carfully. Great weather. Official opening of the World Cup, a great airshow.
Sunday: Last day of Brno Cup. First: Martin Herrig, second Andreas Bøhlen, third Joe Wurts. Sunday ended with a spectcular "lightshow" (thunderstorm), and the worst weather ever... Heavy winds up to 30 m/s. Tents and equipment thrown appart. Luckily the tent with the ariplanes held on.
Monday: Start of World Cup delayed due to weather.
