NEWS:
Big congratulations to Marco Gallizia, Italy for winning World
Championship F3J 2024 at Starmoen, Norway. He has been very consistant
and excellent landings also after short starts in the final. Silver goes
to Marco Generali, Italy and bronze to Jody Miller, USA. Congratulations
all.
Team medals is already published with Italy with Gold, USA with Silver
and Germany Bronze medal. Congratulations!
Weather has been varying a lot with both easy, windy and calm every
other day. Finals went in popping thermal weather with short starts.
Banquet (big barbeque) is next up.

Info about drone licence:
Pilots does not need to
take any exam, you just need to be registered and write the number you
get on your models. We have a rule that says that the event directors
are responsible for making sure that foreign pilot competency is
adequate. Which is very easy because only World Championship level
pilots are competing in a World Championship!
If you are going to fly at your own discretion, like travelling around
and finding a nice slope or field on your own, only then do you need the
exam in order to fly models of more than 250 grams. Sorry that we
haven’t been clear enough about this, EU regulation is a jungle.
There’s one more thing – if you have been flying in and EU-country after
the registration requirement came into place (since mid-2020) and you
have already registered in an EU country, then that registration might
still be valid. It’s supposed to be so that you only register once.

Here is camping, cabins, appartments and everything we need for a long
week.
We will probably provide free tents and the possibillity to rent good
and tested winches (Ober/Hollenbeck).
A working group has been started and CD/Jury has been asked (well known
names)
The airfield will be closed for the Championship during the whole

Accomodation
Starmoen Airport / Ole Reistad senter (at the flying field) can accomodate most of us in cabins and rooms. They can also provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for all and also food for people that have accomodation elsewhere. Almost all in the stab will be here and they take up to 70 people. Cabins are really nice and the rooms were made new during covid (most rooms are with shared shower). Check the Bulletin1-2 for pictures and more info
Elverum Folkehøyskole center of Elverum (Folk High School that offers their rooms and breakfast during summer) is according to the locals a very good alternative with nice rooms and food. They have single rooms, double rooms and appartments for hire. 10min from airport
In Elverum (10min from field/airport) there are two Hotels. They are upper class hotels
Thon Hotel Elgstua and Thon Hotell Central both in Elverum
AirBnb might be a good choice in Elverum or nearby
In Hamar (40min from field/airport) there are many hotels.
Use Google or Booking.com or similar
Elverum Camping might have some cheap cabin available or place for motorhome / Tents if you dont want to stay on the field/airport
Do you need holiday suggestions? Jo Grini have tried to put together what to look for on THIS PAGE. Almost anywhere you go in Norway is great nature. The only "flat" areas in Norway is around Oslo and south-east.
